Blog #1

The book “They Say I Say” simplified the writing process be breaking down how to compose a paper. I like how it shows examples on how to start my paper and explains how to relate to the audience. I never saw writing a paper as a conversation with others. It made me think about how I wrote papers in the past and how I will be writing papers now. I was able to follow some of the exercises at the end of the section to help me think and understand the reading better, which helped. I have found myself feeling like the figures displayed in the book which made it easy to relate. On an everyday basis I try to put myself in other peoples shoes . So, to see a section on the importance to be able to see through the eye of others was exciting to me. It just gave me ideas on how to think about writing papers. Before reading this book I saw writing papers as having five paragraphs that included introduction, body ,and conclusion along with transition sentences to make sure the paragraphs flowed with each other. I found myself having problems doing this. But like the book explained it is more interesting to read when something is being provoked. This way I can form my own opinion of the matter and have a chance to react to the writing piece. Over all this is a great book. It is simple to find references to help out with my writing to come.
